The Depot at the Boijmans Van Beuningen Museum
I’ve just seen this article in the Guardian about the Depot at the Boijmans Van Beuningen Museum, where they’re putting the entire collection on display in a new building. This is a quite marvellous idea, there are far too many museums where most of their collection seems to be locked in vaults which are near impossible for members of the public to access. It reminds me of the similar project at the National Railway Museum in York, which is my favourite area there.
I hope that this is the new way of museums displaying items, allowing transparency and true engagement with the general public.
